Weight weighs us down with shame, with guilt, with unnecessary self consciousness and self criticism. Weight weighs us down with angst, with frustration, with fear.

Not because we don’t match up to cultural standards of beauty or acceptability … but because we know it shows that we’re out of integrity with ourselves, out of control with our thinking or our eating or our self care.   Weight, when you don’t want, it is a heavy burden.

And all our attempts at self-control and all our episodes of loss of control end in tears. We live a ‘What the heck!’ life because finding a calm, centred, satisfying balance seems impossible. We over-indulge to relieve boredom, out of exhaustion and as a well-deserved treat because damn it; we’ve earned it!  And then we pay for it with more pain and more pounds and by depriving ourselves of essential nourishment as punishment in a feeble fatuous attempt to reverse our excess.

We dislike ourselves … we don’t trust ourselves … we no longer believe in ourselves.       We give up on ourselves.

But what if being the right weight didn’t have to be this brutal, this agonising, this draining?women-are-peaceful

What if your right weight was right there on the other side of this syndrome?
