What’s the Point? What’s the point of losing weight ... of being your right shape … of being slender & lean? What’s the purpose? To fit your skinny jeans, to parade that little black dress, to wear what you want when you want? Sure, that’s fun – no denying the ego-boost – but is that really ‘the point’?

Perhaps it’s to not be sick, ashamed or depressed anymore? Mmm, that’s definitely desirable, too. Chronic lethargy and lingering sickness & self loathing sucks – not much of a life feeling lousy. But, further than that, we have to ask   “Why does extra weight & overeating make us ashamed and depressed?”

Instead we ask, “Why can’t I just live a fulfilled and peaceful life at any weight?” Well, you can … if you can!  But most people can’t. Most people are miserable; mistrusting and disappointed in themselves because numbing themselves with food means they’re not showing up to life … for life.

As with any addiction or debilitating habit, overloading yourself with overeating is an ‘easy out’ of engagement in other pursuits. Not living your best life, denying yourself a ‘sorted’ stimulating satisfying life, avoiding your potential … feels rotten. Food fixation, eating trauma & excess weight is a barrier to being present and contributing your gifts, talents, energy and attention to life.  That is the purpose of losing weight and finding a way of peace with food and with your body. To be more fully who you can be … could be … are meant to be. Don’t let past patterns determine your present experience or your future life: find a way that works. That is the point. Why Wait?
